We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Plymouth. This role involves supporting a child with additional needs, providing consistent one-on-one assistance to help them access learning, build confidence, and thrive in a mainstream classroom environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, or additional learning needs).
Adapt learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs and support their educational and personal development.
Assist with emotional regulation and implement positive behaviour strategies.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets.
Encourage independence, engagement, and social interaction to foster a supportive learning environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach to supporting children with special educational needs.
Experience supporting children with SEN, whether in a school, care, or similar background.
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
Calm, resilient, and adaptable personality, capable of handling the dynamic needs of the classroom.
A genuine passion for making a significant impact in the lives of children with additional needs.
